Henk Schut is Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology and Health at Utrecht University, The Netherlands.

Henk Schut, Jan van den Bout, Margaret and Wolfgang Stroebe are the directors of The Centre for Bereavement Research and Intervention.

His research interests cover processes of coping with loss and the efficacy of grief therapy and counseling of bereaved persons.

He also works as a trainer for professionals (e.g., general practitioners and medical specialists) in dealing with the dying and the bereaved.

   

He has written many articles and books about bereavement, and probably the most well known is the Handbook of Bereavement Research (2001).

Henk Schut's presentation is entitled: "Critical discussion about the effects of counseling and grief therapy: do we really help the bereaved?"
