Sherry Schachter is Director of Bereavement Services at Calvary Hospital/Hospice in New York, where her responsibilities currently include facilitating bereavement support groups, and developing bereavement educational and research programs for the hospital’s professional staff.

Sherry Schachter worked at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City for 23 years facilitating bereavement support groups.

She is a frequent speaker and writer on topics related to death, dying and losses.

   

She used to serve on the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) on its Board of Directors. ADEC is the oldest interdisciplinary organization in the field of dying, death and bereavement. Based on quality research and theory, the association provides information, support and resources to its international, multicultural, multidisciplinary membership and through it, to the public.

Her presentation will discuss the experience of organizing bereavement services for adults and children at a big hospital.
